Personal Consumer Issues • Overwhelming choices for glucose monitor gizmos. Need advice on products.

OMG, this just so clearly skirts around medical advice and seems to be non actionable for a non diabetic.

For diabetics, CGMs are state of the art therapy and have been for many years. If working with a physician, choosing a CGM product might come down to what they, the MD, likes to use and interface with. Data gets uploaded, MD gets to see, help.

I'm willing to bet there are a few online DM1 and DM2 forums for folks to geek out on this topic further.

Equipment provider is just as important as the product. Navigating these waters are a PITA.

If I got worked up over a side comment about keeping an eye on blood sugars for a non diabetic, I'd focus on learning about the disease, not the technology for managing the disease. Then I would know that this keeping an eye on things might really be testing HgbA1c at primary MD appointments.

All of this stuff receiving attention might really be distracting from monitoring what the bathroom scale says.

I don't buy medical products when there is not a medical need.
I do not know how they work.
They all do the same thing.
Not overwhelming.

I think you should ask your doctor what exactly he/she/they meant by "keep an eye on it". I don't think they meant this. If they intended a CGM or glucometer, THEY WOULD HAVE Rxd ONE OR GIVEN IT TO YOU...

I think Hypochondria is another interesting topic to learn about.
