I hold both. Didn't bother me at all. Mainly because my other assets made up for the difference. I actually prefer when gold lags because generally that means everything else is cruising along quite nicely. But, when there is no where else to turn, I have been glad to be owning gold. And, it often overshoots during these timeframes leading to longer downturns. Again, doesn't bother me at all as I am not looking at assets in isolation.right, but don't you think it would have felt even worse to hold gold since the recovery took TWICE as long as with stocks?
Hard for me to say, subjectively.
I held stocks through all of that, so know what it felt like.
I wasn't holding gold all that time.
