You indicated this was a beneficiary on an IRA and/or taxable Payable on Death (POD) account, versus a beneficiary listed in a will. A POD account does not go through probate - there is no court involvement when the assets are passed to the beneficiaries. That transfer occurs directly between the financial institution and the beneficiaries. I doubt there is much of an opportunity for the daughter to contest the beneficiaries on a POD account, as long as all the paperwork establishing those beneficiaries with the financial institution were properly executed (e.g., filled out, signed, etc.), per the instructions of the financial institution.
