"yttrium" has now been added to the dark web hacker database as a high quality answer to security questions. It is amazing to me that "security question" procedures don't fold everything to lower-case and strip all but alphanumerics--AND TELL YOU. Or warn you that it IS case-sensitive and spacing-sensitive.
I deal with this by having a single answer that I give for EVERY security question. There's nothing that says the answer has to be true. If I want to say my favorite teacher was yttrium, I honeymooned in yttrium, and my high school mascot was yttrium, it's none of their business that I'm lying. (On the few sites--Treasury Direct is one--that insist on unique answers, I make them unique by prefixing the first letter of the key word in the question: pet pyttrium, car cyttrium, etc. That isn't so great, but it's better than having to remember whether I typed "Truth or Consequences, New Mexico" or "TorC, NM")
Seriously, good idea.
