My best experience so far has been to perfect the pourover, add warmed milk, and then add sweetener/flavors as you wish.

The pourover equipment cost me about 30 bucks. I prefer it over the fancy espresso machine we had.

Lightest roast beans are actually the best. It's some sort of marketing gimmick that has made people like burnt coffee.

I would recommend starting with cheap and then upgrading if it is not to your liking.

After all those syrups and flavoring, even the best expresso would not matter a bit. OP would not be able to taste it at all.
