Not the OP but this is a relevant thread. Traveling with three kids so a suite is necessary. Narrowed it down to an Embassy Suites. Convention Center or Georgetown. Been looking at google maps but wondering if anyone has insight/experience. Have a ton of IHG points but suites look doubtful in city with that brand.
You might check out the Embassy Suites in Chevy Chase. It sits on top of a metro station (just a couple of stops past the National Zoo) and it's not a long journey into the city. Spent a few weeks there while my spouse was recovering from a major surgery. Within walking distance of a Whole Foods, various shops, and reasonable places to eat.
+1 to Chevy Chase, especially for families; Friendship Heights and Bethesda are similar: convenient for getting to downtown DC without the hassles of Georgetown (super touristy, constantly traffic-choked, not convenient for Metro, the buses are often slower than walking because of traffic) or the Convention Center (certain parts can be sketchy).
