Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Zelle vs. Venmo

Same as many here, Venmo is for interacting with strangers and loose acquaintances in real-time (tipping a bartender, paying for snacks at a kids sporting event, collecting money to split a bar tab) while Zelle is more for larger transfers like paying the plumber.

I don't know why.

Edit to add - I think it's fair to say Venmo and Cash App have replaced cash transfers while Zelle replaced checks.
