I have not gone back to make the calculations but my memory is the numbers seemed right, the reminder to be withdrawn accounted for the QCD. We dont do automatic withdrawals.This seems correct. Since the first of this year, I have already requested a check for a QCD (the amount of which has been debited from my account) and manually withdrawn most of my remaining RMD. The Vanguard RMD calculator correctly shows how much I have already withdrawn (including QCD) and the small remaining balance that needs to be withdrawn before the end of this year to complete the RMD.Wow, I thought I knew all about QCD and RMDs. We have been doing this for several years now. I am suddenly doubting myself.
We take the QCD first in the beginning of the year. Towards the last quarter we take all of the RMD.
My memory is the amount that Vanguard tells me is the balance of our RMD, in the RMD page, is the balance net of QCD.
Am I right?
I haven't looked at any automatic withdrawal options, which some have suggested don't work well when you are doing manual QCDs in addition.
