Re: Mazda CX-5

I would avoid the 2018-2023 non-turbo models due to use of cylinder deactivation. Some of these developed cracked cylinder heads. The 2024 model year does not have it if the 8th character of the VIN is an "L" whereas, some I've noted on dealer sites have an "M" in the 8th position which indicates cylinder deactivation. I found this info on the 24/7 Mazda site.
Here is a link for the NHTSA site for engine problems for the 2018 model year. https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2018/MAZDA/CX-5/SUV/AWD
