That is not consistent with what I see in my Activity tab. For example, I put in a buy order on 1/10 (Friday) and there is a buy transaction with -$20K in the last column for 1/10, with a subsequent Sweep out transaction for the settlement fund on 1/13 of +$20K. If the last column doesn't pertain to the settlement fund, then your settlement account appears to have had a $20K deficit over the weekend.Vanguard statements show dollar amounts from the perspective of the settlement account, which is separate from the settlement fund. The settlement account is only for intraday transactions, and it does not hold money overnight. The settlement fund holds money overnight so it can earn interest.
All cash transactions take place in the settlement account. At the end of the day, money is swept to or from the settlement fund to make the balance of the settlement account zero.
In another account, I sold shares on 1/10, which showed a +$2K transaction in the last column. Then on 1/13, there was a Sweep in transaction of -$2K for the settlement fund. Again, if the last column doesn't pertain to the settlement fund, then your settlement account appears to have had a balance of $2K over the weekend.
