You are both going to die, hopefully before your kids. And probably at different times.2 kids in 40’s, both have a list of all account locations, account numbers, and phone number, for everything we deal with, from Verizon to Vanguard. We have provided nothing as to contents of any financial accounts.
If we ever have need for them to assist when we get older we can tell them then. If something were to happen to us, they’re smart kids, they’ll figure it out.
It isn’t “if something;” it is “when something.”
My husband currently is dealing with the financial follow-up after the death of his first parent to die. And he’s long distance.
It’s just a hassle and his one sibling is well-intentioned but is creating more problems than they are solving.
It’s good that your kids will have account numbers and locations and 800 numbers. My in-laws both have pensions that need to be dealt with and my husband has very limited information about them.
