I prefer Tricare select as it always drove me nuts when I had to go through my PCM to get a referral for a specialist when I had Prime. Select seems to be a little more expensive but it’s worth it to me because of the ability to go directly to a specialist. I no longer have to wait several weeks/months to see a PCM only to be referred afterwards and waiting another few weeks/months to see a specialist.I’m 49 and will be retiring from the Air Force next year, and moving to a small city nowhere near a military medical treatment facility, and am deciding between Select and Prime for my family. Lots to think about. Does anyone have any advice or thoughts?
