When I encountered that situation, I reduced my equity portion from 60% to 55%, and just kept driving. A 30% drop in equities now would definitely ruin an otherwise nice week, but have relatively little effect on our lifestyle. OTOH, had we gone to 0% equity when I retired 9 years ago, our lifestyle would be very different today (our investable assets roughly doubled over that period).
A motivation to stay invested, and YMMV, is leaving something behind for the kids. After the returns from the past 9 years in the market, DW and I should be fine whether we stay invested going forward or not. So I am now investing for my heirs, not myself.
