If interested in a money market fund might consider VUSXX as has low cost and might have higher after tax return than some others if will be paying state tax. Is the money in a taxable or IRA account?
To the OP. Assuming the $ is not in an IRA, as a first step consider opening a brokerage account at Vanguard and transferring your cash into it. The settlement fund is VMFXX, an excellent MM fund in its own right. From there you can buy VUSXX, if you want, or other investments. Or simply sit tight until you decide what to do.
Can use MMOptimizer to compare the yields of various funds like VMFXX amd VUSXX vs other brokers' funds (SNSXX, SPAXX, etc.) to see why these Vanguard funds are being mentioned.
