The RSU's at my company do not work like that. The sale that happens is a normal sale in the market the morning of the vest while the vest price is the close price the previous day. So there is a gain or a loss for the shares that are sold for taxes.
Got it, in that case if the sale transaction is below vest price it will be a wash sale and you will have to keep track of it.
