If you held it on the days mentioned, then this does apply to you. The change should be at the smaller value of $0.002674/share, not the larger $0.054186/share. As you hold IEMG at Fidelity, I'm curious which rate was used!I did hold IEMG on June 11th, 2024, but I haven't received anything from my broker (Fidelity) to indicate a cost basis adjustment. I did sell IEMG in Q3 2024 and then also reacquired it ~40 days later it as part of tax loss harvesting, so maybe this doesn't apply to me?
Likely there would be no notification at all. Just your basis silently changing. And 1099 tax forms might have a cryptic notation of something happening. How would you have heard of a cost basis adjustment? Would your broker actually notify you?
Schwab won't notify you of the basis adjustment. It just silently increases (or decreases for REIT return of capital). You'd only notice the change if you compare old trade confirmations to the current status, check old monthly statements, or you keep track of your basis on your own. Oh, your 1099 will show an "addition to basis" - as a negative number. FYI, IEMG also had an "addition to basis" in 2022 (June and December).I've held IEMG since July of 2022. I haven't sold any of those shares. I haven't received anything about a change in basis from Schwab.
