For the uninitiated N&F uses fabric woven in Japan but do the final sewing in Canada.Naked and Famous jeans are around $200, they're high quality, they have different fits, and you can get ones that aren't super stiff.Does anyone have any experience with specific brands? Any that you recommend?
As mentioned, its primary advantage is the offering of different fits, as many other brands offer only skinny fits, even for men. This is very welcomed for someone with “thunder thighs” developed over almost two decades of cycling (e.g. yours truly).
I like mine and am wearing a pair as I type this. I think I paid ~$100 (on-sale) a few years ago, back when Nordstrom’s carried it.
Downside is that its standard leather logo patch is the sort of stuff that could get someone a sexual harassment complaint at work (and would possibly involve moderator edit were I to post a photo of it). So either remove it (makes for a nice coaster) or make sure to always wear something covering it should one wears it to work.
Nordstrom carries a brand called Kato, which is Japanese denim finished in Japan, but mostly in slim fits and in lighter weights.
The real grail find for the price conscious is Uniqlo’s made in Japan selvedge offerings, but I don’t think Uniqlo has sold any in more than 15 years. Its present selvedge offerings are woven in Japan and finished in India or Bangladesh.
