Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Approaching 50 Feeling Pull Of Hedonic Treadmill

My thinking is that the things I want could be sold later (even for a higher price if I decide it’s not for me).
As an aside, I find it to be bizarre, how a $80K luxury pickup or SUV is regarded as being wholesome and "practical", while a $60K sports car isn't.

There is a BH way to buy sports cars: look for models tending towards the bottom of their depreciation curve. C6 Corvette for example... now starting to rise in price. Probably some good choices in the Porsche market (I'm not familiar with Porsche).

Now a few years north of 50, I'm finding that personal desire in "sportiness" is neither in good handling nor in attractive appearance, but in raw on-demand acceleration. It has to be there, it has to be immediate, it has to be intense and unrelenting, with no drama, fuss, pretense or cacophony. Today, that leads to a certain set of choices... which unfortunately are very prone to depreciation.
LOL. Buy used with low miles, single owner, non-drag and good carfax :-)
You may not go distance in such cars, but you will have ear-to-ear smile on your face, and enjoy a big-hole in your wallet/bank-account :D
