Your household income is $200k but you are only saving $8.5k a year. That seems low to me. That does not necessarily mean you are not saving enough, but it does raise the question.

Is money taken out of your salary to put into your eventual state pension? If yes, add that to how much you are saving for retirement each year.

Is the VA pension of $24k what you are getting now or what you expect to get at age 65?

22% bracket? Is that you? Or spouse? Or are you each in the 22% bracket?

Is spouse not saving anything in any retirement accounts?

Can kid use your VA education benefits?

What is your plan if you are unable to work until age 65?
