I said satisfying—not entertaining. If risks get partially hedged, then the range of possible outcomes has reduced; for most people wanting to be “entertained”, that is the wrong way to do it.And that's the real reason for most of factor investing, beyond the hope of higher return, it's more entertaining than just using a plain old 3-fund portfolio or a TDF. Things are too uncertain to really expect that its really going to matter in regards to our future financial needs....
However, I think portfolio design is richer and more satisfying when we have tuned our portfolio more to our needs.
It is so ironic that this forum pick and chooses from what the namesake actually said to create a narrative that they claim is the truth—shoving words in people’s mouths that were never said, let alone intended. If the forum actually accepted the namesake’s words, then it would have been a given that factors have a meaningful purpose. I believe in financial literacy of the forum; not the cultism.
Alas, another day to defend financial literacy. It is frustrating.
