What reasons are those that affect pex and copper equally?PEX will develop pin hole leaks for the same reason as copper.Pex. Copper will develop pinhole leaks overtime. I had to tear out all the copper pipes in my house after a number of pinhole leaks throughout the years. Had to redo a bathroom because the pinhole leak had been going on behind there for a number of years. 100% Pex.
In my house, acidic water ate right through the original copper pipes.... pretty sure that doesn't affect pex. Any brass fittings attached to the pex, sure, but those should never be enclosed inside walls in a proper installation and will take a lot longer than copper pipe to corrode to the point of a leak.
