The interest rate seems to be a generic rate for the time when mortgage was taken out.As an average joe, what risk do I face for having info like this out there? Name, address, taxes are all basic info that can be found on any county tax payer website. Mortage details would be the only unique thing they are listing. Looking up my property, the original mortgage amount is correct, but the interest rate is wrong and does not show remaining balance. Shows up for my neighbor though- I wouldn't have a clue if the info is correct.
I agree photos should be scrubbed everywhere after a home has been listed and sold.
Google your county name " _____ GIS". Most counties these days have a web map that lists the public info for each parcel. Some have integrated the map into their taxpayer website, others have it separate still. Either way that stuff is all public. IF someone is truly looking for this info on you, they are going directly to the source, not homes.com etc. If you are ultra wealthy or want/need additional identity protection, you probably have a Trust, LLC, etc to help shield some info.
I think the primary down side is people anywhere being able to know about info re: mortgage and such. This is also a backdoor way of serving as an internet White Page, except the old white pages doesn’t list mortgage info. Even white pages allowed removal of entries.
I get that certain info is public, but there’s a big difference btwn public only when viewed at the local municipality vs it being made available to all.
Lastly, i’m not sure how a trust would help if the property isn’t initially purchased via the trust. This one lists transaction records going back a long time.
