If it was me, I'd tell them that I will contribute if I want to, but I won't be forced into it. I valued my talent and knew I could get another job quickly if I lost my current one. If they don't value your talent as much as you do, then they can let you go. I wouldn't want to work for an employer who made these kinds of demands on me. I would feel demeaned working there if I didn't stand up for myself. Now, if she absolutely needs this job to survive, or has other reasons for wanting to stay without rocking the boat, then decide accordingly.
