Personal Finance (Not Investing) • A few questions from a newbie Executor

-Do I need to do anything with the TOD bank account? It is the recipient of several government checks, at least some of which may be clawed back.

I would leave it open and not tell the bank of the death until you are ready
Thanks. I've been reading old forum threads, and apparently if somebody dies on the first or second of the month, and the bank is informed of this, they might return any pension payments, even though the decedent was entitled to them. Seems that there is sometimes a standing rule "if they are dead, return the pension checks and let the heirs work it out."

Ironically, I may wind up in this situation. I haven't shared the personal information, but I fully expect to become that subject newbie executor in the next several days, which may or may not occur prior to October 1.
