Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Where Should I Live After Medical Residency?

I lived in Edina, a Minneapolis suburb, for 13 months. The weather was good for perhaps 5 of those months. I learned to cross-country ski there, and was amused by the popularity of ice fishing on the many lakes, but have never regretted leaving for more clement environs.

The compensation differential is substantial, but your quality of life will be greatly impacted by the climate.

I'd expand your search to encompass other possibilities. It's a big country, and there are likely many locations which offer both higher compensation than St. Louis and a better climate than Minneapolis, while also meeting your other criteria for school quality, cost of living, etc.
