Agreed. My experience is a bit older (8 years ago), but I didn't pay anywhere near to that at a more advanced age than 50+. More like $3,300 for $423,000 coverage. WAEPA was much less expensive, but at age 51 you might not meet their health requirements. I tried to increase my WAEPA insurance about that age and I was turned down for a trivial medical issue (and I'm still quite alive and healthy!).Also, are you certain about the annual $3300 premium cost? Is that for some Option B C coverages as well? I certainly didn't pay anything like that amount for the basic and Option A coverages before or after retirement. The OPM website lists the 2021 basic premium at 0.3467/$1k coverage monthly, which would be $34.67/month, or $416 annually. Surely it has not gone up by 8x in 4 years.
