We funded our Fidelity DAF with $50k on March 20, 2020 just after the market crash (by chance) and 9 months before we were jointly retired. Since 2020 we have gifted $52k through last year so five years so far. We support other charities that can’t accept from the DAF and they have been funded separately.
Amazingly, the balance in the DAF as of today is $46k.
Including this year we have 4 years until we can utilize QCDs for the remainder of our lives and the DAF may or may not get us there without adding funds. I can only say that we were very fortunate with the timing of the QCD contribution.
