To complicate your decision even further, I think you should look at SCHO, the Schwab Short-Term US Treasury ETF. It has an expense ratio of 0.04% and a duration of 1.9 years, much shorter than SCHZ. The SEC yield is 3.54%. The credit quality is better than either SWVXX or SCHZ because it is all treasuries. It seems perfect for someone in your situation.
