This is not true. By law, banks are not required to keep account holders’ statements for more than 7 years; many banks only keep 5. And although individuals may keep their bank records for decades, I am not aware of a law that requires them to do so.Banking records are effectively forever. Trivial search would show large amounts given.
If there's no record of the gift, then how is the IRS going to know about the gift to question it? I worked with a paranoid gentleman yesterday in the ER, but even his paranoia didn't come up with stuff this good.
