I just started Pluribus as well, and I am hopeful. Gilligan has serious cred. And the premise is anything but generic. My one fear is that the Seaborn character (Carol) may be hard to develop beyond her one-dimensional depressing and annoying self, which could get very tedious over time. Ditto the collective hive mind characters. So far I'm into it and look forward to episode 4, but with a bit of trepidation. I like the absurd humor.
I never heard the Heinlein "one impossible thing" rule. It's a good one.
So far, I find it unimpressive. I mean, how could it not be - following Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The main character is so annoying. Just... ugh.
I just want to shake Gilligan and say, "What were you thinking?!?! Science fiction?!?" Not his forte.
