Or Flat Rock which is adjacent to Hendersonville to the south. Someone has already mentioned Brevard which is west of Hendersonville and SW of Asheville.Hendersonville is a cool town! OP- maybe a nice alternative.
Getting around the Asheville / Hendersonville corridor has been problematic for several years because of a huge reconstruction/expansion project on I-26. It's finally winding down. Last August I drove through there on my way home from a trip up north. The only really bad section was where the Blue Ridge Parkway crosses over I-26. They were building a new bridge for the Parkway, with wider-spaced supports to make room for the new lanes on I-26.
