I've encountered this recently and find it especially baffling, as I have the following timeline - does this look right and/or reasonable?
Account A is new & unknown to IBKR, it was a savings account that I closed down, moving the balance to IBKR. Account B has been used with IBKR for 10 years, with many transfers to/from it.
- 2 GBP transferred from [ACCOUNT A] to IBKR (testing the references) 12-AUG-25
- 30k GBP transferred from [ACCOUNT A] to IBKR 15-AUG-25
- 300k GBP transferred from [ACCOUNT B] to IBKR 24-OCT-25
- Attempted withdrawal of 900 GBP to [ACCOUNT B] blocked on 12-DEC-25, due to origination rules.
Withdrawals only allowed back to [ACCOUNT A] until Mar-26! Account A is long since closed and cannot receive funds. In effect, a 2 GBP transfer from a new account has blocked access to 300k from a long known & used account!
