We briefly owned a house near a busy street, so I know the feeling. We sold that house because of the noise, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. The only thing that "sort of" worked to mask the noise was an air purifier on high.I find that the traffic noise from the busy street near my house makes me a little anxious as I’m trying to wind down in the evenings, and I think playing calming music or white noise to mask it would be beneficial.
You could try an actual white noise machine first, but if you want speakers, I'd skip anything in-wall or in-ceiling. Unless your house came pre-wired, you're probably going to have to cut and patch drywall, which is never fun or cheap. In-wall speakers are a relic of the days before Sonos, soundbars, and other wireless speakers.
A small Sonos should have plenty of volume and can fit on a side table.
