It seems another use of data by insurance companies is to use aerial photography to assess the condition of oiur roofs and cancel the homeowner policies of those whose roofs don't make the grade.

And my roof that is relatively new and maintained in good condition will look to be lower risk and I will pay less in premiums relative to those whose roofs are in worse condition. What's not to like?
What's not to like is the potential for disagreement. This is from the article:

"Her insurer said its images showed her roof had “lived its life expectancy.” Picos paid for an independent inspection that found the roof had another 10 years of life. Her insurer declined to reconsider its decision."
