I heard some time back that it was part of Elon’s Mars strategy, since he would require the building of tunnels once arrived on Mars. I don’t know if it’s true or false, but it was presented to me as an example of how Elon is thinking many steps ahead.I never understood why Musk was trying to solve the subway problem that was solved 100 plus years back. Was there any else to it? underground transportation via moving cars is what subway does, so why was he trying to replace the subway system? someone said this to me a long time back at a social gathering, he stated that look Musk is trying to solve the transportation problem by boring underground and putting autonomous cars, then I asked isn't that what NYC subway did 100 years back? they got really angry and ignored me for rest of the evening.
Luckily, the Boring Company seems to have tunneled itself into it's terminal resting place ... May it RIP ..
