Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Hitting a wall with credit card churning

With 0% APR on opening accounts and a few banks or credit unions which are liberal with opening bank accounts on credit cards, you could make quite a bit of free money above the sign in bonus. A few of them have 4%+ APYs on CDs too. But I tend to find that I end up keeping the cards for longer, unless they want me to close them for disuse, which is fine. Then, when I start getting rejected by new issuers, I will close a bunch of them to create more capacity. Existing issuers will be happy to reduce the credit limit on existing cards to accommodate a new one. I find that I never have to go above more than four credit cards every 24 months, though, which makes me a good Chase customer in case some unprecedented offer comes up that I need to jump on.
