I generally do not trust AI for 100% accuracy. But, when I ask it tax related questions, I like how AI shows the work and runs through the math. I can then review it pretty easily and so far on the easy stuff I ask, it has been pretty accurate.Let me tell you about this little thing called AI.
This is a really valid point — but I think we're immune to it. My husband is in the tax profession, a field with no end in sight. If he's laid off, he could start his own business or find a job at a competitor's firm.![]()
In all seriousness, tax professionals are far from immune - in fact, taxes are one of the best use cases out there for AI. It's the least immune branch of public accounting, IMO. I actually wouldn't count on having a tax job more than another 5 years. Not to say there won't be tax professionals, but there will be a lot fewer. But the flip side is if he's a partner, he might be making more as AI will increase efficiency and eliminate the need to pay for many lower level roles.
