suggest making an appt with your State SHIP who can explain any exceptions to standard Medicare based on your own state rules, such as whether your state follows the Birthday Rule. The SHIP rep can also explain how Original Medicare works, and answer the questions you have posed here, and any others that might come up. It's free and unbiased (unlike a broker).
