Personal Consumer Issues • Seriously considering an EV

Current owner of a 2017 Leaf. I wouldn't buy this car for a 50mi daily commute. You're going to lose range if you're driving on the highway. Loss of range when it's cold. Loss of range if you turn on the heater, or the a/c. Loss of range when it's raining b/c of increased rolling resistance and/or the defroster. It's a great car, as a secondary car for short errands. 55 miles is my maximum trip, returning home with 20mi left.

Consider looking into a chevy volt. About 40 miles on battery, and then it switches to gas. Inexpensive, no range anxiety, but most of the operating cost benefits of cheap electricity.
