Being that it was the '70s AI (and the internet) as we know it today wasn't around to help, so for each day I had to look at the price (of one stock) and look through newspapers trying to explain the price movement for that day. This went on for a couple of months I think? Anyway the bottom line was that for most days I could come up with about equal justification for the stock rising or falling, so I'd choose whichever narrative fit the behavior and go with that.
