That is an interesting idea. I assume this would entail the spouse with >2MM net worth maintaining US citizenship, hence no need for gifting and no exit tax risk. Seems the benefit at the destination would be the ability to buy EU-compliant investments for the NRA spouse, trade-off would be that you'd still have to deal with US regulations for the citizen spouse. Not sure about how complex this would be to manage over time, seems you would have to maintain entirely separate finances - will have to think more about it for sure.
