If you're worried about over-spending, lower the credit limit on the card.With bank and brokerage accounts a durable power of attorney will allow you access to the accounts, such as an elderly parent, sometimes even with online access. However that doesn’t appear to be the case with credit cards.
Of course you could log in with parents ID (which you really aren’t supposed to do) but if the ID gets locked out you are pretty much screwed
Getting added as an authorized user only gets a new card issued for you and only access to that authorized card.
