Investing - Theory, News & General • Are Income Funds in Retirement False Security

I've got about 40% of my retirement portfolio in Global Wellesley, currently pays out 3.4% (I think). More than covers my net expenses. I don't have to think about it, just shows up in my Schwab sweep account, to be spent if needed. Cap gains all reinvested.

Of course, I've got retirement accounts elsewhere that are more Bogleheadish. But I think of VGWIX as my "variable SPIA". :beer
I was 100% Wellesley Income so I got socked in 2022, the excruciatingly slow recovery really bothered me so at the end of 2024 I added more stock to bring my AA up to 50/50...for now.
I generally keep my AA rebalanced at 50/50 as well. After I turn 80 or thereabouts, I'll stop and let things drift towards 30/70 (my Target 2040 fund becomes Target Income at some point).
