It’s too state specific for me to answer, but in general, if the trust is purely discretionary, there ought to be a way to do it. Something to ask a local attorney familiar with the local regs.My sister's SSI benefit are reduced by 1/3 because my mother pays her mortgage and HOA fees. They’ll ask for the trust docs and records of distributions if they want the extra information. What are typical govt agency reporting requirements for a discretionary/SNT?The corporate trustee would be both more expensive and worse than hiring an attorney to advise you on an as needed basis.
With or without a corporate co-trustee?
If the SNT paid these same housing related expenses, I assume it would be the same 1/3 SSI reduction. But could the distributions be classified as income that counts toward means testing?
