Will read upstream. Not claiming to be a scholar on this. Have read it many times but fair in saying I can’t say whether reputable source or not (and not worth my time to critically evaluate. ) N of 1 study myself was a couple hundred $ less a month. But also from personal experience, not shopping online probably made a bigger difference for our family. Lots of “online deals” that used to never get used or only used once. (As indicated, I still use 2 main reward cards. If I am going to carry a credit card in general, I agree with the premise of I am already paying the xtra that has been baked into prices to cover the fees)We just discussed this and the studies don't show anything of the sort they only suggest that some people spend more with credit cards and there is no evidence either from short term or long term ones that it applies to everyone and I challenge you to provide a study that does conclude that.I would say you (and me and everyone else who uses rewards cards) are actually the one losing moey. My understanding of studies done on this is people pay more when transacting in the following order (least to greatest): check (especially if balanced at time of writing), cash, debit card, standard credit card, rewards cards, phone or watch. Adding onto that speed of transaction matters so touch cards and phone and watch are more. I get quite a few rewards each year but spend a lot less if I don’t use the credit card. I tried the following and found I spent a lot less - removed card from phone—> stopped carrying credit card. Unfortunately had to change back b/c my wife got frustrated when I couldn’t stop and pick up a forgotten grocery item on the way home from work
