Your QCD donation is not taxed as a Traditional IRA withdrawal. So, if you are in the 22% bracket and give $1000, then you "save" $220 in taxes.

You also reduce your T'IRA slightly. That is a benefit if you are also doing Roth conversions (to, for instance, avoid being in the 28% tax bracket in 2027.)
