There is no "the." The U.S. dollar is not "the" reserve currency. There are eight of them. The U.S. dollar is by far the largest, and comparing the last five years is not in any imminent danger of losing its status as the largest.

It's a complicated topic and I don't know the answer, but if someone raises an alarm about the dollar no longer being "the" reserve currency, I know that they are talking simplistic nonsense.
