I was planning on doing the same but reading the aforementioned topic gave me pause as it appears that terminating the employee and distributing the funds (as advised by Ascensus rep) is not the ideal way to go about it as, for one, it could result in a 1099-R being unnecessarily generated.
Please treat my comments with a grain of salt as I am not at all well versed in this subject and am likely using the wrong terminology.
