Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Buy with cash vs. rent

Thanks for all the advice here.

I ended up renting for a few reasons:

• My California home took longer to sell than I thought it would which imposed some limits on my financial flexibility (and I didn't want to sell stock or do a pledged asset line of credit).
• I thought I had a sense of where I wanted to live in Denver but realized I really didn't and need to spend some time in the area first.
• I stumbled across a nice rental close to work at a decent price.
• The idea of not dealing with homeowner type things for a while is appealing.
• I wanted to maintain flexibility - either to move back to the old job in a couple of years or do something entirely different. 

So far, no regrets. Hiking every weekend in this beautiful state!
