Investing - Theory, News & General • I own my own home. That must affect my investments, right?

Our house is worth about $1M.

We don't include it our portfolio because it's not liquid.

It's our nest egg for when we get too old to live alone, sell it, and go pay for an assisted living facility.

The impact on our asset portfolio is that the income stream we need is lowered because we have no mortgage.
This sounds about right. Your home basically pays for assisted living or nursing home.
